The Enviable Lives Campaign: Investing Towards the Future

The Arc of Frederick County is looking forward to parterning with you on our new endeavor.  We expanded our services to 555 South Market Street in Frederick in 2015.

The Arc of Frederick County renovated the space to creatively serve more people with developmental disabilities in our community.

Our Building Includes:

  • Program area for people with significant disabilities
  • Gluten-Free Bakery
  • Commercial Kitchen
  • Shops and Micro Businesses operated either by people with disabilities or hiring people we serve
  • Training and social areas for people we serve

 

Why The Building is Needed

The Arc supports people with significant disabilities by offering services during the day. This program offers an engaging and active environment where people can work on learning skills and maintaining their health in addition to participating in activities in our community.

The Arc at Market Street has a large gathering area to bring in the community. There are numerous activities that people we support want to learn about or participate in, but they often have trouble finding places that will accommodate their needs. With this space, there will be opportunities for performers, artists, and others to come and share with people we serve and the broader community. In addition, The Arc will have social events for people we support. Our hope is that this will help people with disabilities become more connected to the broader Frederick community.

Do you have a family member you would like to honor in a special way? With your gift, we can dedicate a room in honor of someone, a name of a business, or personalize it however you want. You will also be included in all of the above.

The information we collect about you (member) when you become a member, donor, or constituent, is used to process your membership, donation, or request for information and referral, and to provide you member benefits. In the course of its regular fundraising activities, The Arc of Frederick County will accept donations of the following: money, securities, real property, and personal property. The Arc of Frederick County may elect to refuse gifts of cash, securities, real estate, or other items of value if there is reason to believe that such gifts are incompatible with the mission of the organization, conflict with its core values, or would create a financial, administrative, or programmatic burden. The Executive Director will refer questionable gifts to the Board of Directors for guidance on a case-by-case basis. Arc staff are encouraged to bring to the attention of the Executive Director any concerns they may have about the appropriateness of accepting any gift. The Arc of Frederick County may elect to refuse gifts of any type if the potential gift poses a conflict of interest -- including but not limited to real conflicts of interest, appearances of conflicts of interest, or perceived conflicts of interest. When donations are accepted with restrictions, those conditions will be honored. If The Arc of Frederick County cannot meet those conditions, staff will ask the Board of Directors for guidance about returning the donation or requesting modifications in the donor's conditions. Requests by donors to remain anonymous, have their names removed from mailing lists, or to restrict appeals will be honored. Information about donors that should be private will not be made public. Donors will not be subject to excessive pressure when solicited for contributions. The Arc of Frederick County does not share our donor lists with outside organizations, with the exception of The Arc of the United States and The Arc of Maryland. Donors may request that their names not be shared with these two organizations. The Arc of Frederick County does not hire outside fundraisers or pay fundraisers on a percentage basis. Volunteers who solicit contributions for The Arc of Frederick County will be monitored by the Board of Directors.
